Series Starter: Litle Goddess Series by Amy Lane

OK… so… we’ve all had a series that we just loved and wanted to tell everyone about. A series that we wished everyone would read so that they would love it just as much as we did. Here’s my attempt to share the series love. At the beginning of each month I’ll be showcasing a different series, and giving people a chance to win the first book in the series.

This month’s Series Starter is spotlighting Amy Lane’s incredible LITTLE GODDESS series. This was a series my book club read a few weeks ago and I fell in love with the story and the characters. It’s a combination of everything I love about paranormal fiction. Fantastic world building, action, romance, humor, magic, history… this series has it all.

Here’s the author’s writeup of the first book, VULNERABLE…

Working graveyards in a stop & rob seemed a small price for Cory to pay in order to get her degree and get the hell out of Nor-Cal. She was terrified of disappearing into the aimless vortex that awaited the lost and the young that haunted her neck of the woods. Until the night she actually stopped looking at her books and looked up. What awaited her was a world she had only read about—one filled with fantastical creatures that she was sure she could never be.

And then Adrian walked in—and she discovered that risking your life was nothing compared to facing who you really were. And then falling in love.

The series takes us from a simple girl trying to fight her way out of her small town life, with a “goth girl” attitude as armor and college as her weapon, to an amazing world of fae, vampires, weres, and “others” that transform her future into something she could’ve never imagined. She finds love, purpose, devastating loss, comfort, strength, and great joy in a life at Green’s Hill.

As much as I love this series, there are some technical drawbacks to the first book. The LITTLE GODDESS series is self published by the author, and the first book was her FIRST BOOK. The editing isn’t the best (although, honestly, it didn’t hinder my reading at all… the story kept me going right past the errors), and there are some continuity and pacing issues. One thing I can assure all of you is that those things get worked out further into the series. Amy has many, many stories available through other publishers, and is very popular in the M/M fiction genre. (Yes, you’ll see some of that in this series, as well as the novellas that accompany it.) She has grown as a writer and as a storyteller, and the results are just magical.

The journey to Green’s Hill, and the introduction of it’s fantastic residents, begins in VULNERABLE. In a recent chat with my book club (which is VERY spoilery, so please don’t read until you’ve finished all available books/novellas in the series) Amy shares that there are 8 full length novels planned for the series. Here is the reading order (including novellas) so far:

  • Vulnerable (Little Goddess, #1)
  • Wounded (Little Goddess, #2)
  • Litha’s Constant Whim (Little Goddess novella)
  • Guarding The Vampire’s Ghost (Little Goddess novella)
  • Bound (Little Goddess, #3)
  • Yearning (Green’s Hill Werewolves novella, #1)
  • Waiting (Green’s Hill Werewolves novella, #2)
  • I Love You, Asshole (Little Goddess novella)
  • Reaching (Green’s Hill Werewolves novella, #3)
  • Changing (Green’s Hill Werewolves novella, #4)
  • Becoming (Green’s Hill Werewolves novella, #5)
  • Rampant (Little Goddess, #4)
  • Being (Green’s Hill Werewolves novella, #6)
  • Quickening (Little Goddess, #5) (still being written)

I really wish I could sit down with each and every one of you and talk about all the incredible things in this story. If any of you have any questions, or want more info, feel free to ask me in the comments or find me on twitter. What I CAN do, is get someone started and HOPEFULLY create a new member of the Green’s Hill fanclub. 🙂

Please leave me a comment below with your first name and email address if you’d like an ebook copy of  VULNERABLE. You’ll have til midnight, pacific, on January 7th to enter. I’ll choose one person from the comments, at random, to win the ebook. (Doing it as an ebook allows me to include international readers.) I’ll email the winner on January 8th.

Good Luck!!

Love, love, LOVE Amy’s writing, and I’ve been meaning to grab this series. (Though knowing she’s having issues getting to Quickening has mentally stopped me from buying because I don’t want to get started, devour, and then go “WHERE’S THE REST, AMY??” Which I know I will. Because I love her stories that much.) =)

A good story is a good story no matter how it’s published. I’m just so thankful this one was recommended to me. It makes me sad to think I could have missed it simply due to lack of a full marketing campaign.

    You’ll love it… so, so good 🙂

I understand completely!!! There are series that I’m intentionally NOT reading, so that I can read from start to finish when they’re completed, lol. It’s a mixed bag of benefits with this one for me… I’ve read what’s out there, and that’s AWESOME… BUT… now I want to live on Amy’s porch so she can tell me what she’s writing as she works on QUICKENING, lol!!
