Rec My Weekend #1 – HOUSE AT THE END OF HOPE STREET
Rec My Weekend is a brand new weekend feature here. A new way for me to share something I’ve discovered this week, and a way for YOU to help me increase my already-taller-than-me “to be read” pile. Because, really, there is NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY BOOKS!! Feel free to share your “Rec My Weekend” recs in the comments below!
For my first rec… I’m venturing a bit out of the typical UF/PNR area to share a magical realism book, from Menna van Praag. (As a superfangirl of Sarah Addison Allen, who writes stunningly beautiful magical realism, finding THE HOUSE AT THE END OF HOPE STREET absolutely THRILLED me!!)
Welcome to Hope Street, where literary ghosts give advice to the living, hot chocolate contains magical properties and hope is something you can hold in your hands. Discover a mysterious house where women come to hide their secrets, heal their broken hearts and risk everything to change their lives forever…
You can read an excerpt on Menna’s blog HERE.
So, my lovelies… are you fans of magical realism?? I LOVE it. If you’re not familiar with the subgenre… I HIGHLY recomment Sarah Addison Allen. Others to check out are (aside from our featured author this week, Menna van Praag) Alice Hoffman, Celia Ahern, Laura Esquivel.
If you’re a blogger who’d like to join in this weekly feature, feel free to sign up with the tool below (and you can use the banner, as long as it remains unchanged) so we can all come see your “Rec My Weekend” recs!
