15 Day Book Blogger Challenge – Day 4
So… April from Good Books and Good Wine created this little 15 day challenge (you can read about what prompted it by clicking on the graphic above). I’m starting about 4 or 5 days behind her, but she says that’s ok… so here goes…
I was on a roll… 3 days in and everything was lovely… then I missed two days in a row!!! So… playing catch up. There’ll be 3 of these posts today, lol.
First… day 4 = the last book I flung across the room.
I’m generally pretty good about choosing books that won’t give me this urge. Now, that’s not to say I don’t have strong reactions to some of the things I don’t like in a book, but it’s got to be PRETTY BIG to actually cause the “throwing impulse”. Honestly, there are only three that I can think of that made me truly want to throw them. And one, I can’t even remember the name of, probably because I hated the ending so much that my brain is shielding me from the title! I was seriously ANGRY about that book for days!!
1) City of Bone by Cassandra Clare – If you’ve read this series you KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!!! I love this series, I really, really do. And if I had been thinking logically, I wouldn’t have been nearly as upset as I was at the end of that book. But it was such an emotional, unexpected blow that it caused a very irrational reaction. I definitely wanted to toss that one… and IMMEDIATELY start book 2!!!
2) Lover Enshrined by J R Ward – I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It’s, honestly, the series I judge most all other urban fantasy books against. HOWEVER… reading Phury’s book ’bout dang near KILL’T ME!!! I wanted to run that book over with a freakin’ tractor!!! There were a couple of reasons why: 1)The mis- and non- communication between characters in that book drove me batshitcrazy!!! 2) The EFFING WIZARD. ‘Nuff said. There are a lot of important things that happen in that book. I’m very glad I read it, and by the end, the things that made me want to throw it had worked themselves out (for the most part). But it’s still my least favorite of the series.
3) the book I can’t remember the title for – by the guy I can’t remember the name of. Was a contemporary about people who met online, and slowly formed a relationship. Eventually we find out the woman was married, but unhappily so. Things get tense when the husband finds out, and pleads with the online guy to give him a chance to fix his marriage. The ending was abrupt, confusing, unsatisfying, and made me want to toss the book out the window. Instead, the universe interceded and erased the title and author from my mind, lol.
So, my lovelies… what book have YOU read lately that made you see red?? Any book almost earn some frequent flyer miles for repeat trips to the wall?? Not one that just made you mad, but actually incited RAGE!! Let it all out in the comments 🙂
