Today’s cover reveal peeks in on the newest book by one of my favorite people. Lisa Kessler is a fantastic storyteller, and her second series, the Moon Series, is ready to show off it’s upcoming installment’s shiny-new cover!

First, the blurb about HUNTER’S MOON…

Sasha’s future was stolen from her the moment she was bitten. Now she’s on the run from the Nero Organization that transformed her from a human detective into a shape shifting jaguar assassin…. When a rogue bounty hunter threatens her younger sister, she’ll be forced to fight, and with nowhere else to turn, Sasha will need to trust the one man who has every reason to want her dead. Aren is a werewolf with a secret. While protecting his twin brother and Alpha of the Pack, he found his one mate for life. Sadly she’s also the jaguar assassin who tried to kill them both. Now Aren is struggling between his animal nature to love and protect her, and his loyalty to the Pack.

Second, a reminder to check out book one in the Moon series… MOONLIGHT!

and now… the lovely new cover of HUNTER’S MOON (available October 21, 2013)

Words & Music Monday (& Contest Teaser) with Gini Koch

Posted September 30, 2013 By Jennifer

Hello there!! Today we’ve got the musical inspirations for a super popular series, the Alien (“Kitty” Katt) Series by Gini Koch. TOMORROW, Gini will be back, and we’re doing an EXCLUSIVE cover reveal for ALIEN RESEARCH! AND… tomorrow’s post will kick off a three day, music related contest that ties into the Coastal Magic Convention!! (where Gini will be a Featured Author!) Be sure to check back tomorrow for all of those details!!

For now… the music…

Music and Moi

GiniGlendale_02(72dpi)There’s going to be a big reveal here tomorrow (hint: Winter’s Cover Is Coming…) but for today, I’m going to yap about the thing I love pretty much as much as I love writing, which is listening to music.

I know that there are a goodly number of writers out there for whom silence is golden, vital, and demanded. I’m not one of them. No, I’m one of those authors who writes well in chaos, and writes best with music blaring. And not just any music, either. Specific music, for specific books, but all of it falling under the very broad spectrum of rock/popular music, and all of it needing to have lyrics.

TBAA_blog_coverAs anyone who’s known me for five minutes can guess, Aerosmith usually features prominently on my playlists. As most don’t know, however, the band that really helped me write Touched by an Alien, and had a hand in all the subsequent books in the series, is Smash Mouth. They’ve yet to get a shout out in any book (I don’t think, anyway) but they — and their “Get The Picture?” album especially — are really the creative musical force behind the series for me.

When writing (or driving, walking, or sitting) I can and do rev on one band, one album, or just one song. I’ve listened to many songs on constant repeat, as the hubs can attest and usually does while asking for headache meds.

While writing Alien Research, I was dependent upon Aerosmith’s recent release, “Music From Another Dimension”, but even more dependent upon Mötley Crüe, their “Greatest Hits”, but mostly their greatest albums, “Dr. Feelgood” and “Saints of Los Angeles”. How dependent? You’ll find out December 3rd, when Alien Research releases, but early sources say, “A lot.”Untitled-4

But from Alien vs. Alien, through Alien in the House, Alien Research, and now Alien Collective (Book 9, coming in May 2014, which I’m writing right now) on I’ve also become dependent, very dependent, upon Fall Out Boy. And Flo Rida, B.o.B., and Pitbull. But mostly Fall Out Boy and Flo Rida. I don’t ask why any more, I just go with it.

No one was happier than me when Fall Out Boy got back together, just in time to ensure that I’d be able to finish Alien Research (sorta on time, even). And I’m hoping they and Flo get a move on and get some new albums out pronto. Not that it matters. Because I can just listen to what they have out that I have (everything they have out) over and over and over again.

And because I’m writing Alien Collective right now, guess what’s playing? That’s right…Fall Out Boy.

FOB 4ever, baby.

Gini Koch lives in Hell’s Orientation Area (aka Phoenix, AZ), works her butt off (sadly, not literally) by day, and writes by night with the rest of the beautiful people. She writes the fast, fresh and funny Alien/Katherine “Kitty” Katt series for DAW Books, the Necropolis Enforcement Files series, and the Martian Alliance Chronicles series for Musa Publishing. As G.J. Koch she writes the Alexander Outland series. She also writes under a variety of other pen names (including Anita Ensal, Jemma Chase, A.E. Stanton, and J.C. Koch), listens to all kinds of music 24/7, and is a proud comics geek-girl willing to discuss at any time why Wolverine is the best
superhero ever (even if Deadpool does get all the best lines). She speaks frequently on what it takes to become a successful author and other aspects of writing and the publishing business. She is also the Lead Editor at Raphael’s Village, an online, nonpaying ’zine. Because she wasn’t busy enough, Gini’s added on featured guest columnist, reviewer, and webcaster for Slice of SciFi and It’s Comic Book Day. She can be reached through her website at

Today we are celebrating the release of the first-in-a-new-series title by Teresa D’Amario. Visions of Fire and Ice is the exciting new tale about an ancient race of aliens, Egyptian mythology, and true love.

VisionssmallTrapped on a planet not their own, the Petiri spend their lives hiding the natural gifts that set them apart from the world. They live long and unfulfilled lives, unable to find their soul mates on this backward planet known as Earth. That is until the night Ramose comes face to face with Tamara, a woman whose gifts rival his own. Determined to find why this human is in possession of an ancient magical Petiri relic, he arranges a meeting.

But Tamara, embittered from past events, is wary despite lifelong dreams of Ramose and a sure knowledge he is her soul mate. Before long the couple find themselves ensnared in a battle that has raged for millennia in Egypt’s desert. Set, Egyptian God of Chaos, is determined to take his just due: the throne of Osiris.

The only way to stop him is for Ramose to put his trust in Tamara, but, first, he must gain the same from her. The ensuing sensual relationship is filled with romance, lust and love. Their relationship is tested by an unnatural evil. Will her powers over fire, combined with his ice be enough to win the day? Or will the ancient gods and goddesses of Egypt destroy more than just their love?

About the Author:
Teresa-DAmarioBorn in Atlanta, the daughter of an Army Soldier during the early stages of the Viet Nam war, Teresa spent her childhood traveling from state to state, finally ending up overseas in Germany where she graduated high school six months early.
Her writing career, however, began as a young Airman in the Air Force, writing monthly articles for the weekly base paper.  The articles ranged from climatological data to full center fold articles on the destructive forces of hurricanes.  As she increased in rank, her writing changed to more technological instruction, including such works as WSR-88D Doppler Radar Data Interpretation Guide for North Carolina Stations, and Station Operating Procedures.
But her early writing wasn’t limited only to the technological side.  She’s written multiple dog training and behavior articles for canine websites such as Sonora Canine Freestyle, and also the Ask Blackjack column, a fun training column in the voice of my labrador retriever, then a young pup.

Review: THE UNEARTHLY (Unearthly Series, #1) by Laura Thalassa

Posted September 19, 2013 By kellysmithreviews
unearthlyAuthor: Laura Thalassa
Release Date: June 25, 2013
Pages: 296
ISBN #: 9780989206426
FTC Disclaimer: Book was received from the author for the purpose of an honest review.
Vampires, seers, sirens, soulmates, shapeshifters, Satan… save for ghouls and Wendigos, I think Laura Thalassa put every supernatural creature into her debut YA novel The Unearthly. As soon as I saw the blurb about this book I was excited to read and review it, knowing it would be different from your typical YA paranormal novels of “girl meets supernatural boy, they fall in love, blahblahblah”. I was right.

The Unearthly centers on sixteen-year-old Gabrielle Fiori, an orphan whose last memory of her parents is her father carrying her to safety from a house fire where he perished, passing her on to her nanny, Cecilia. In the memory (more like a dream now), Gabrielle sees a man in black, haunting her. He has haunted her dreams and waking life ever since that night (Gabrielle’s mother was believed to have committed suicide before the fire that killed her father) her father died.
The problem is…no one can see him but her.
Gabrielle is accepted into a prestigious academy in the British Isles, Peel Academy, and she doesn’t know anything about why she was accepted except that they told her she had a “legacy” at the school, which meant an ancestor must’ve gone there. She desires to find out more about her biological parents, but that is a wish she should never have entertained when she finds out what sort of legacy the academy’s students leave behind.
They are all supernaturals, and they have gone to the school to “Awaken” their true powers. Gabrielle is a new kind of creature: she is a siren (the last of them, as her mother died a decade ago), a soulmate and…a vampire? Vampires aren’t born, but Gabrielle was, and her Awakening was the catalyst that set in motion a series of unfortunate events that threaten her life…and the lives of every coven member in the vampire clan.
Gabrielle must work with the vampire king, sexy celebrity Andre de Leon, to try and save the entire clan…or destroy it. All she really wants is to be normal, but her legacy left her this school, these friends (Caleb, a shifter; Oliver, a fairy; Leanne, a seer) and a cryptic note from her father, written before his death.
To top it off, aside from trying to save her race, she has to fight off the feelings she has for the sexy Andre and try to figure out who (or what) the man in black is.
From the first page the reader is taken on a journey inside Gabrielle’s life, dreams and hopes for her future. They are thrust from Gabrielle’s recurring nightmare to Los Angeles International Airport and on to the Isle of Man and the strange castle where students study History Of The Supernatural instead of American History and initiations are being taken to underground chambers instead of drinking a keg or two without stopping.
I liked the plot, and I really liked the characters. Gabrielle is a spitfire with a heart of gold trying to prove that, just because she is a vampire, she is not evil. Andre is sexy and enigmatic, the perfect vampire. As supporting characters, Oliver and Leanne (and even the awful Doris) are so realistic and read perfectly into the story. Even the dead characters, like Gabrielle’s parents, are as perfect as can be.
The novel is a quick read because you want to know what happens next and will leave you in a tantalizing cliffhanger which you must endure until the second book comes out in 2014.
Ms. Thalassa wrote a great book with few flaws. I recommend it for all readers, not just teens!
4/5, wonderful!

Cover Reveal: BAD IDEA by Damon Suede

Posted September 18, 2013 By Jennifer
One of my very favorite people is sharing the cover of his brand new book today!!! Damon Suede’s sense of humor and fantastic storytelling make him a fan favorite and a must read. The new title is a contemporary companion piece to his paranormal release HORN GATE… in case you missed it… here’s a reminder of THAT cover…
I just LOVE the cover for BAD IDEA!!!
Some mistakes are worth making.
Reclusive comic book artist Trip Spector spends his life doodling super-square, straitlaced superheroes, hiding from his fans, and crushing on his unattainable boss until he meets the dork of his dreams. Silas Goolsby is a rowdy FX makeup creator with a loveless love life and a secret streak of geek who yearns for unlikely rescues and a truly creative partnership.
