I WONDER… Wednesday – #4 – Sneak Peeks & Spoilers
Hello, my lovies 🙂 And welcome to a new mid-week feature, called “I Wonder…”. Basically, this is my chance to chat with you all about something I’ve been pondering. Every week’s topic will be book/publishing/author related in some way. I’m looking for feedback on these posts… so I’d love to hear your thoughts. (It’s lonely over here in my little corner of cyberspace!!)
I finished reading a book the other day that had a familiar “issue” at the end… then I saw this today…
This solidified my question for all of you today…
Do you read the “bonus excerpt”, for an upcoming book, at the end of the book you’re currently reading? Do you read sneak peeks, or chapter excerpts on author websites or blog posts? Do you grasp at every social media snippet available, or do you shun them all and wait for the full experience when the book is released?
I’m a bit mixed up on this. Sometimes, I’ll hunt down everything I can find… and sometimes I try to avoid the spoilers. (I’ve also been guilty of checking the last few pages of a story to make sure a character’s name shows up, if I’m worried they won’t make it, lol!!) There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to my choices, when it comes to which stories I want info ahead on, and which ones I wait for. I tend to think that if I REALLY want the next book… then the teasers/spoilers just make it THAT MUCH HARDER to wait. And that if I’m just “looking forward” to reading something, but not really dying for it… the snippets are fun and keep me interested. But even that’s not ALWAYS true for me. I’m just all kinds of all over the place where this is concerned.
Are you guys more dedicated to the spoiler/no spoiler decision than I am? Are you kinda wishy-washy like me?
Oh… and those “extras” at the end of the book??? They should be different colored pages or something, cause that’s just MEAN!!! LOL!!!
