Reading makes me happy!
I am what you might call a bibliophile. Reading is one of my favorite ways to spend my free time, so naturally I collect a ton of reading material. My favorite genres include fantasy, science fiction, and horror, though I’ll read almost anything I’m given. When I was a little kid, it started with the Golden Books. The fairy tales sparked my imagination and fueled a love for stories. As I grew older, I discovered things like Greek legends, stories from the Brothers Grimm, and Stephen King novels.
Discovering new worlds and losing myself for a few hours in an adventure is a fantastic escape, one I’ll never get tired of experiencing.
Over the years, my tastes haven’t changed much. I still love re-reading my favorite DragonLance novels, Island of the Blue Dolphins, and The Thief of Always, but I am always on the lookout for new books that might catch my eye. While I adore Kim Harrison’s Hollows series, Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files, and the early Anita Blake novels, I’m always scouting for a new author to add to my auto-buy list. For example, I recently read The Lies of Locke Lamora for the first time–and now I’m ready to devour anything else by Scott Lynch I can get my hands on.
What are some of your favorite books? Who are your auto-buy authors?
