“HAPPY” Blogiversary Celebration with Carolyn Crane

cathatsmall copyKicking snow clumps off the bottom of our car makes me happy.
by Carolyn Crane

It sounds stupid, I know, but it really does make me happy to kick those suckers off! Especially this time of year. Whack!

For those of you who don’t know what they are, I have provided a helpful diagram! The car underside, especially around the wheels, just gets full of them. Sometimes they hang on there for months.

It’s not easy to get them off, either—they are like barnacles, all iced on there and clinging. You really have to go at them sometimes, but it is incredibly satisfying when one finally falls. All gray and icy and evil. It feels like freeing the car. Sometimes I smash and stomp them. Not to sound psycho. But I do!!

The other day I was looking out our window and I saw a woman kicking snow clumps off of a car parked on the street, and I assumed it was her car, but then she went to the next car and started kicking them off of that one. I have never kicked the snow clumps off of other people’s cars. I was super impressed! Though, it’s kind of ballsy, like trimming a shrub that’s not your own. So, I haven’t yet done that, but don’t think I’m not tempted!

Carolyn Crane writes romantic suspense, urban fantasy, and other tales of adventure and romance; she also writes erotic romance about bank robbers as Annika Martin. She lives in the American Midwest with her husband and two cats. During rare moments when she’s not at her computer, she can be found reading in bed, running, or helping animals.

Love the pic! I used to live in MI and remember those days of kicking clumps, it was like a victory/kicking old man winter in the nuts or something like that. The barnacle comparison is hilarious, I never thought of that, and I live in FL now. If I ever have the opportunity I am so kicking clumps off other peoples cars!

  2. Comment by jovialvampyre:

No, I wouldn’t because I just heard on the news that we shouldn’t kick them off. With all the light weight material going into the makings of cars we are likely to cause damage buy kicking the snow off. We’re supposed to let it come off in a car wash or on it’s own.

  3. Comment by Carolyn Crane (@CarolynCrane):

omg!! I am really glad to know this! I had no idea. Thanks!

  4. Comment by Carolyn Crane (@CarolynCrane):

Hah! No snow clumps for you. You must be soooo happy to be in Florida right now.

  5. Comment by Jeanne:

I love kicking the ice clumps off too! Jovialvampyre’s comment was an eye opener, but I don’t know if it will actually make me stop doing it though 🙂 I wouldn’t kick them off someone else’s car for fear that it might set off their car alarm.

  6. Comment by Mary Preston:

It actually sounds liberating. I doubt I’d be able to stop once I started.

  7. Comment by Brenda Molina:

I kick snow clumps anytime I see them. I haven’t seen one in 9 years. 🙂

Not snow clumps but I do take out icicles on other peoples cars or houses if I go past them.

  11. Comment by Joanna Moreno:

A friend of mine tried doing that once and broke his toe! Wasn’t wearing boots of course but since I saw that happening I’ve never tried it. Liked the picture though .

I know this sounds wrong and you are asking how will this get him
