“Yasmine Galenorn creates a world I never want to leave” – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Yasmine Galenorn’s Otherworld series is long running, best selling, and has unique, well developed world building. This rich environment has more than one story to tell… and it’s time for a new one to begin.

FLIGHT FROM HELL is the novella bridge-piece that loosely links Yasmine’s existing Otherworld series with her upcoming Fly By Night series. To help celebrate the release of the novella, Yasmine has a contest happening on her site, and today is the LAST DAY to enter!!! Click HERE for prize details and instructions for entering.

When Carter, half demon, comes to Menolly and her sisters, asking for their help, they think he’s just had a tiff with Shimmer, his blue dragon girlfriend.

But after talking to Alex Radcliffe, the owner of the Fly By Night Magical Investigations Agency where Shimmer works, they suspect that she has been kidnapped by an old enemy of Alex’s.

Now, Alex joins forces with the D’Artigo sisters in a desperate race to find Shimmer before Julian, a powerful vampire from Alex’s past with a grudge to settle, can use the dragon to wreak havoc on Seattle as revenge.

Next summer, in the Fly By Night series, we’ll meet new characters and have new adventures, but each book will have Yasmine’s signature depth and edge. Answering questions about the similarities and differences between the two series, Yasmine recently posted this on her blog:

  1. They ARE both set in the same universe/same city/same time.
  2. The Fly By Night Series is NOT just another venue for the D’Artigo Sisters. The focus will be on Alex and Shimmer—there will be crossover of minor characters, but the two series are definitely their own and Fly By Night belongs to Alex and Shimmer.
  3. The Fly By Night Series will be from Shimmer’s viewpoint, and she and Alex hang out in vastly different circles than the D’Artigo sisters overall.
  4. FLIGHT FROM HELL is an OTHERWORLD novella that introduces Alex and Shimmer to you—here, the characters do interact but the Fly By Night Series will be focused on the Fly By Night world.
  5. Fly By Night is more of a mystery/thriller series. I’ll give you these spoilers:
  • Alex and Shimmer are not privy to the demonic war going on.
  • The FBN books will be more standalone. While the characters will evolve, there’s not all that much of an overwhelming series arc.
  • The FBN gang is a little more humorous, though the series is not really ‘lighter’ than Otherworld.

Review: CURSED by Angela Addams

Posted August 11, 2014 By mybftina

Title: Cursed (The Order of the Wolf, #1)
Author: Angela Addams
Pages: 87
Release Date: July 29, 2014

I received this ebook for review from the author, in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way compensated for this review.

Meet Raven and Darcy. Raven is a bassist in a rock band who takes advantage of his popularity to meet plenty of women to satisfy his carnal pleasures. Darcy is a witch, though not a very good one, who hates one night stands. However, as the poster children for Murphy’s Law, they find their personal positions challenged. When the two meet it is explosive in a lot of different ways.

Raven spots Darcy at an after party and can’t take his eyes off of her. Darcy has been plotting to meet Raven for a while and takes full advantage of the opportunity. From the start, the chemistry is running rampant between the two of them. Wild sex. Lots of sex. Lots of satisfaction. This worked because it further moved the characters out of their normal behavioral paths. But you knew it was too good to be true. That is when things tilt.  After a night of the best sex ever, Raven doesn’t want to let Darcy go but knows he must. Although Darcy feels a level of attraction to Raven that she has not had with any of her other targets, she still puts her plan in place by cursing Raven.

The above information can be gleaned from the synopsis. As one who hates spoilers, I feel that too much detail on the main characters was provided in the professional synopsis. Fortunately for me, I read the book before the synopsis. However, in reading the book I was pleased that the synopsis only covered approximately the first ten or so pages of the book. This means that I got to enjoy the action of the book. Now, keep reading.

Here is where the action picks up. Per the official blurb, we know the curse goes horribly wrong. The author handled the overall conflict in a good way. There is only so much one can put in a novella. However, the way that the main characters handle the curse and tries to reverse it is intriguing. Packed with some predictability, I found myself still drawn to the book due to the surprise of how the curse is addressed. In their search for a cure, the main characters are inevitably thrown in each other’s space and have to deal with the anger of a plan gone wrong. The supporting characters are not always what they seem so be sure to have a pencil and paper handy so that you can keep up.

Mixed with plenty of twists, the book has an unexpected ending. I found this book to be a cute novella and it hit the spot when I needed a quick read. It was lighthearted and funny. I would recommend this book if you are look for a romantic smile with a healthy dose of the unexpected.

I love listening to a variety of music…as long as it’s hard and fast and dirty….okay…so I like a particular kind of music, specifically the kind that isn’t overly mushy or sentimental. I’m a weird kinda romance writer. My heroes tend to be rough, bad boy alphas and my heroines are strong, determined women. When it comes to writing, I’m not the kind of author who can listen to music as I’m working. I find it too distracting. Before I start writing though, or when I’m in the middle of writing and pause to hash out a plot snag, or details of a scene, or character profiling, I listen to music a lot. It inspires me in unusual ways. Here are some of the songs that influenced aspects of Cursed.

Melissa Auf Der Maur – Followed The Waves – This song inspired parts of Darcy…in fact it’s like her theme song. “My heart lies to you. Never have me true.” She is motivated by vengeance and tangles her heart up by accident. Great song and I am partial to female artists. Powerful women, folks, it’s always about the powerful women.

Nine Inch Nails – Ruiner – NIN is my favorite band of all time and is the inspiration behind Riot (the band featured The Order of the Wolf series) When I listen to Ruiner I think about how Raven reacts to what Darcy has done to him. “You had to covet what was mine.”

Stupid – Sarah McLachlan – I like to write about torment, especially women who are tormented by actions or decisions they’ve made. When the heart is involved we don’t always make the best choices. “Love has made me a fool…How stupid could I be?” This song helps me think about forbidden longing and desire, perfect for Darcy and Raven.

Satellite Mind – Metric – “Heard you f**k through the wall…” I’m a fan of most of Metric’s songs and find that many of them inspire my writing. This song always gets me pumped to write erotic scenes. It gets me thinking about sexuality and how we connect to other people around us, sometimes in very intimate ways without even realizing it.

NWO –Ministry – This is a throwback to my goth years. I’ve never outgrown Ministry. I love the anger of this music. It pumps me up, especially for fight scenes. This song puts me in a good mood (I told you I was weird) especially after a bad day. I always think about it when I’m writing anything aggressive.

So there you have it, a sound track of sorts for Cursed. It’s an interesting mix but perfectly embodies what goes into any piece of writing. Chaotic emotions and a roller coaster romance.

The Order of the Wolf, Book 1

Her biggest mistake comes with fangs…and a nose for tracking her down.

Wherever there’s a lying, cheating scumbag who’s broken a woman’s heart, Vengeance Dealer Darcy Wells is there. So what if she isn’t the most skilled witch around? She’s only using one spell, which leaves the hapless male suffering tormenting lust for one woman. Her.

The beautiful part? This curse comes equipped with a blinding agent, allowing her a clean getaway. Unrequited lust, coming right up! As far as Darcy is concerned, it’s justice served. Her next target: Raven Glock, rock band bassist and drop-dead-gorgeous sex god.

When Raven lays eyes on the luscious Darcy, he gives her what he promises all the starry-eyed groupies who toss their panties at him—one unforgettable night in his bed. Sex with Darcy is so epic that he forgets his cardinal rule: to get her out before morning.

At the crack of sunrise, Darcy serves Raven a face full of cursed ash. But something goes horribly wrong…and she finds herself magically tethered to one pissed-off werewolf.

Worse, breaking the spell could cost her everything…maybe even her life.
Warning: Sexually explicit language, tattoos, piercings, and giant…um…feet. Wet panties are a given. Author assumes no responsibility for spontaneous ravishment of significant others, pool boys, or local pizza delivery personnel.

Like many tourist restaurants in resort towns, the Grotto didn’t have much of a dress code. Jeans were fine, and chinos were considered dressed up, and the Friday-night crowd in the restaurant wasn’t exactly fashion forward. Which meant I fit right in.

Mermaid’s Grotto was a throwback to another era, and I watched Jake’s eyes widen when we walked in. I had to admit, if I hadn’t seen it before, the giant fish tank would have been overwhelming. Even knowing it was there, it was still pretty amazing.

“There really were mermaids here, once upon a time,” I told Jake, after we were seated in the dining room. “There was an underwater show with mermaids swimming in the tank.”

Jake stared at the giant tank that formed a wall between the bar and the dining room. “They swam in there?” he asked.

I nodded. “They used a system of air hoses that let them breathe underwater. That way they could stay down through the whole show, without having to use respirators or tanks or anything.”

“How long ago was that?”

“Well, I remember coming here a couple times when I was a little kid. Really little, like three or four. I thought the mermaids were the most beautiful things I had ever seen, and I remember telling my dad he was a liar when he told me they were real people.”

I reddened a little at the memory. My parents usually didn’t allow such back talk, but that one time my dad had just laughed and let it pass—which was probably why I remembered it so clearly.

Jake chuckled. “So you’ve always had strong opinions, eh?”

“I guess so. I also told him I was going to grow a tail so I could be a mermaid.” I glanced at the tank, then back at Jake. “Which wasn’t such a great idea, since at the time I couldn’t even swim.”

“But you lived here, right by the beach. You must have learned.”

“I did, once I had some incentive. I spent that entire summer and the year after that practicing holding my breath underwater. Got pretty good at it, too. But by then they’d closed the show, and I couldn’t see much future as a mermaid.

“I understand there is still a show somewhere down south, Weeki Wachee Springs, maybe. But I think I’m over my dreams of being a mermaid.”

Promo Blast: WITCH HUNTER OLIVIA by T A Kunz

Posted August 8, 2014 By Jennifer

Here’s what New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors are saying about Witch Hunter Olivia by T.A. Kunz:

“Witch hunters and sexy tattoo artists? This New Adult Paranormal is EVERYTHING fans of romance and action are looking for.”

– #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout

“A fun, action-packed, enjoyable read!”

– New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack

“The perfect blend of New Adult and Paranormal. It’s absolutely fantastic!”
– New York Times bestselling author Nichole Chase

~ ~ ~

Reviewers are calling Witch Hunter Olivia “amazing, fun, well-written, and entertaining.” You don’t want to miss the hottest New Adult paranormal romance of the summer!

In the town of Piedmont Pointe, where paranormal is the norm, a girl can easily get herself in over her head with a single wrong move. Unfortunately for Olivia Adams, she’s about to make several.

Starting over is never easy, but it seemed like the only option to Olivia. The decision to turn her back on the Guild of Witch Hunters, the very group she devoted her entire life to, was one of the hardest things she ever did. It meant leaving her family, her friends, and her old identity behind forever. Coming to terms with what caused her to abandon her duties in the first place was even harder.

While trying to lay low and stay off the Guild’s radar, Olivia finds herself thrust back into her old ways after unknowingly interrupting an assassination hit on a powerful witch. What follows is the last thing she ever thought she’d agree to do–protect the very thing she was groomed to hunt.

To complicate things even further, Olivia begins to develop feelings for a tattoo artist who also happens to be half warlock, and no matter how hard she tries to fight it, she can’t resist her inescapable draw to him. Olivia’s forbidden relationship isn’t her only issue though, because once the mystery behind the assassination attempt starts to unravel, she’s forced to choose sides when the loyalties still tied to her past life are tested again.

So much for the idea of a fresh start.

Author T.A. Kunz has always had a fondness for reading thrilling mysteries and action-packed urban fantasies. So, it was no surprise when T.A. decided to write stories that they’d fall into one of those two genres. T.A. lives in Central Florida with two fur babies and a mechanical engineer who also happens to be quite the culinary badass, which there are no complaints about. Being a self-diagnosed caffeine addict, many joke that T.A.’s addiction to Starbucks coffee will likely be their downfall later in life.
