Mari Carr Q&A and Giveaway: Romance Awareness Month

RomanceAwarenessMonth1Just a few weeks ago, I was happily surprised to find that August is Romance Awareness Month! I can’t find an origin, but it’s a real thing, and I’m ALL FOR IT!

To celebrate, I sent an *all call* to some of my favorite romance authors, asking each of them the same questions about romance (their own, their favorites, and their characters). All month long we’ll be sharing the authors’ answers, and EVERY ONE OF THEM is offering a giveaway!

Today’s post features a bestselling author with a romance for every reader, Mari Carr!

In addition to Romance Awareness Month, Mari is also celebrating her newest book, BELOVED SACRIFICE (Trinity Masters, #9), which just released yesterday!!

A woman with nothing to lose. A man who knows too much. A secret that could destroy them all.

Rose Hancock is no stranger to danger, fear, or pain. Her whole life has been shaped by the purists–a shadowy splinter group within America’s most powerful secret society. When the leader of the Trinity Masters has her partner-in-crime shot, Rose has nothing left to live for except revenge.

Before she can take her revenge, she’s kidnapped and wakes up to find herself in England, with the man who only days before she was sure was dead.

When a kidnapping and ransom specialist, sent by the Grand Master, shows up to “rescue” Rose, she’ll have to decide if she wants to keep running or stand and fight against the purists.

But there are more secrets to be uncovered, and some of those secrets could mean the end of the Trinity Masters…because the Masters’ Admiralty is larger and more powerful. And some betrayals cannot be forgiven.

What is your simple definition of “romance”?

Spending every single day with the person who makes you laugh, makes you happy and makes you better.

What is the most romantic thing someone’s done for you?

My husband does a million little things for me that add up to romance, including getting up with me to make me breakfast, pouring a glass of wine for me after a rough day, putting flowers on my desk just because.

Do you have any “romance mishaps” you can share?

Mishaps? Do children count? LOL. Just kidding. I can’t think of any mishaps.

If your own romance was a novel, the title would be…

Overboard. lol

What is the most romantic thing one of your characters has done for their love interest?

In Do Over, the couple has been married together for over twenty years and the wife is experiencing empty nest syndrome. To rekindle the romance, the husband takes her back to all the places where first met, kissed and dated, writing her a letter with the memory of that place that he reads at each stop.

Do you have a favorite romance trope? (Either to read, or write.) If so, which one?

Friends to lovers or romantic comedy (to read and write!)

Who is your favorite (aside from one of your own) fictional romantic couple?

Jamie and Clare in Outlander
