This or That with Poppy Dennison

Posted May 31, 2013 By Jennifer

I love finding ways to get to know my favorite authors a little better. One fun way to sneak a little peek into the personality of someone is a quick round of “This or That”. Poppy Dennison is celebrating the release of the third book in her Triad series, SOUL MAGIC. Here’s a little about the new release… then check out her “This or That” answers below.

SoulMagicLGBlood runs soul-deep. Cormac hasn’t been the same since the night the High Moon Pack was attacked. With his magic weakened, he’s consumed by a bloodlust he hasn’t felt since he first became a vampire. His need to replenish his power makes him a danger to his last remaining family member, and his hunger makes him careless. And that’s just the beginning of his troubles. Feeding from pack beta Liam Benson was supposed to slake his appetite, not leave him craving more.

Simon Osborne and Gray Townsend are trying to fight a being history says shouldn’t exist—one with all three types of magic. The pack must use all of their resources to combat the mysterious triad, even turning to the shady Council of Mages for help. While Cormac struggles to reconcile his past failures with his current desires, Simon must attempt the impossible: an alliance between mind, body, and soul.

Ok… quick answers are best… right off the top of your head… here we go…

1-Winter or Summer

  • Summer. Hands down. I love Mr. Sunshine.

2-Cake or Pie  Hmm.

  • Yes? Pineapple Upside down cake is my favorite though.

3-Batman or Superman

  • Batman. I like the idea of all the gadgets.

4-Call or Text  CALL.

  • Please. Call me. I’m a talker. Plus, I can’t spell anything right on texts and autocorrect hates me with a purple passion

5-Sweet or Spicy Hmm.

  • That’s tough. I don’t have a big sweet tooth actually. But I don’t eat spicy food. Can Salty be an option instead? *g*

6-Early Bird or Night Owl

  • Oh, I’m the earliest of early birds. It’s not unusual for me to be up and at ‘em by 5am.

7-Dinner & Movie or Club & Concert  Dinner and a movie.

  • Or really, just dinner. Unless the movie is at home and snuggling on that couch with my honey. What can I say? I’m a snuggler!

8-Print or eBook  eBook.

  • I love having a gazillion books at my fingertips on my ereader!

9-Invisibility or Superstrength

  • I’m going to go with Superstrength. The thing about invisibility is that you’d always see/hear something you don’t want to know. I wouldn’t like that.

10-Pride & Prejudice 1995 or Pride & Prejudice 2005

  • Colin Firth. (That’d be 1995, for those unaware.)

11-Coffee or Tea

  • Hey now! I can’t choose between those! Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon!

12-Vacation or Staycation

  • Vacation! I love to travel!

13-Mani or Pedi

  • Pedi! I love having cute toes! Right now mine are bright red with white flowers.

14-Plotter or Pantster

  • Plotter. I can’t start a story until I know how it ends.

15-Wrapped Up or Cliffhanger

  • Wrapped up. I don’t mind a few loose ends that tease the next book, but nothing annoys me more than a story that feels like it ends in the middle of a sentence!

16-Vampire or Werewolf  Werewolf.

  • Ya know, like Alcide. Or Derek Hale. *nods* Yes please!

17-Street Fair or Broadway

  • If you had asked me this a year ago, it would have been Broadway. These days though, I’m really loving being out and about so I’m going to change it up to Street Fair.

18-LOLcats or FAILblog

  • OMG, the Pinterest Fails make me laugh so hard! Totally me. So I’ll have to go with the Fails.

19-CD or MP3

  • Hmm. I’m not a big music person to be honest. I do Pandora a lot. Does that count as MP3?

20-Drive or Fly

  • Fly-I want to get there sooner so I can have more time wherever I’m going!

So… how about all of YOU??? Doesn’t SOUL MAGIC sound AWESOME?? Would you rather have Invisibility or Superstrength?? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments 🙂

Hi everyone!! Today we’ve got a “special guest” joining us for a little bit of fun. Cicely Waters is an owl shifter and a wind witch (in Yasmine Galenorn’s Indigo Court Series). Like most gifts, these abilities come with responsibilities. Cicely has her hands full these days, trying to save herself, her family, and the rest of humanity, from the half fae, half vampire, 100% evil Queen of Winter, Myst. Last we saw Cicely and her crew (at the end of book 2, NIGHT VEIL), they were holed up and regrouping, readying themselves for their next move. Soon we’ll find out what that move will be (in July 3rd’s NIGHT SEEKER), but in a rare moment of down time, I managed to take her mind off what’s to come for a quick “This Or That” conversation. Everyone needs a break now and then, and Cicely has certainly earned a few smiles. Below are the answers to our chat… and the chance for YOU to check her impulse on a “This Or That” question of your own. (With prizes!)

19.  Travel – Drive or Fly: Drive

20. READER’S CHOICE – OK everyone… in the comments below… ask Cicely a fun This Or That question. Throughout the day, either she, or if she’s busy, someone from her camp (probably Yasmine Galenorn) will pop in to leave her answers. And have we got a prize for one lucky commenter. Yasmine is offering a $10 gift certificate to either Amazon.com or BN.com (winner’s choice), and I’ve got a *signed* 8×10 print of the NIGHT SEEKER cover (minus the words) from cover artist extraordinaire, Tony Mauro!!! So… leave your This Or That question for Cicely… look for your answers later today… and for an email tomorrow to see if you’ve won!! (Please leave your email in your comment so I can reach you.) I can’t wait to see what you all come up with, Good Luck!!!

This Or That with C A (Carol and Adam) Kunz

Posted August 3, 2011 By Jennifer

Hi everyone. I thought we’d try something a little different with our guests today C A (Carol and Adam) Kunz. The mother dauthor author team, of the book The Childe, were kind enough to oblige. They each answered their list of questions alone, so posting them here we can compare their answers for the first time to see how similar, or different they are. Hopefully you’ll get a kick out of their “rapid fire” answers to my little version of This or That.  You can read Shellie’s review of The Childe on MamaKitty Reviews today!

So there we have it. Their answers were surprisingly similar!! I suppose that’s what happens when you’re related AND you work together. I also suppose that makes for some fantastic writing session, especially considering how well The Childe came out!!

So… you lovely readers… what else would YOU like to know?? Post your own “This Or That” questions below for Carol and Adam to answer… or you can ask about something they answered above (Unicorn Zombies AND Zombie Unicorns??) I can’t wait to see all the interesting “This or That” questions you come up with!! And thanks again, so much, to Carol and Adam for playing along with us today. Don’t miss their debut novel, The Childe!!
